Teenage boys go Poker Crazy
September 03, 2005
Texas Hold 'Em has become the most popular game amongst
teenage boys in America. Experts worry that poker obsession
can put America's youth at its highest risk for compulsive
betting. As the schools reopen more middle school children
are also getting addicted to Texas Hold 'Em.
The study conducted by Louisiana State University Health
Sciences Center states that 15.9 percent of students between
the 6th and 12th grades admit to gambling related addictions.
Four percent of students confessed, they stole money from
relatives to go gambling. Most teenagers learn about poker
from television. Online gambling is also easily approachable
all through out the day. On Long island there are two gamblers
anonymous meetings devoted solely to the teenage boys.
