Poker players raise money for a healthy cause
September 12, 2005
More than hundred poker players on bikes rode through five
towns including Charleston to raise money for diabetic patients.
In each town, the riders picked up a playing card and the
player who handed over the best poker card at the end of
the race won $100. A sum of $785 was handed over to The
American Diabetes Association to help people who put up
with diabetes.
The 110 participants gave an entry fee of $10 and money
also came in from selling raffle tickets. Pfeiffer, the
event organizer said that diabetes is a worthy cause and
there are lots of people suffering from it. Conducting crowd
friendly events will attract more people and contribute
significant amount of money for such needy causes. Pfeiffer
plans to organize this event every year and says that he
is bestowing the little he can to comfort patients who suffer
from diabetes.
