Poker is a game of skill than a game of chance.
You need to know basic tips and Poker skill to succeed in
this game. In a game of Poker you can bluff the opponent,
but in Video Poker you simply can not do that or it is impossible
to bluff in video poker. In this game, you need to have best
hand from five cards dealt out of a 52-card deck. The ranking
of the hand in video poker is the same as in regular poker.
You can double your wins progressively to utmost limit by
the double feature on the Video machine. You get a choice
of four cards, and you need to choose one which must be higher
than the exposed card to double your money. This can be risky,
but you can win big this way.

Variations
There are certain variations of this game available also. Watch out for the games where wild cards are used. Also in the payouts, check out if they offer per hand combination or not. Each game has its own strategy. Some variations are Jacks or Better, Deuces Wild, Aces and Faces, and Joker Poker. Power Poker is similar to video poker, except that you are dealt four hands. There is even a ten-hand version.
Video Poker Tips
- In video poker it's easier to draw an outside straight (*-6-7-8-9-*) than an inside straight (6-7-*-9-10) because you can complete your hand by increasing the chances of getting a card on either side of it.
- If you are new to video poker, try mastering Jacks or Better first - its strategy is the easiest to understand.
- Never keep a kicker (a single high card - J, O, K, A - that has the potential to turn into a winning pair) with any pair or three of a kind. Holding the kicker will reduce your return by 5%.
- Most versions of download software allow you to use "Expert Mode" to analyze the percentage chances of hitting a certain hand based on what you choose to hold. |
